I haven’t listened to this in literally forever. My cousin bought this album for me when I was in elementary school. It kind of amazes me now that his cadence sort of sounds like he’s rapping. Never dawned on me.

I grew up watching the original SNL cast and have an admitted bias for that era….but this might be the best skit they have done.

Check out a movie called 24 Hour Party People. Its is loosely based Factory Records and the bands like New Order who were signed to Factory. The original sleeve was a floppy disk...and had to be die cut. They sold each copy at a loss. Over time this is biggest selling 12" single of its time in the UK. This single has sold over 1 million copies. The first time it was released it sold 700K copies back in 1983. This song would bring everyone with a pulse to dance for 7 insane minutes. Amazing times! Funny thing this skit is written by a white guy(with an assist from Michael Che)who also wrote on Chappelle show named Bryan Tucker. He was in the white people game show on Chappelle show.

Wait, I didn't know you are a fellow Floridian...I'm not quite as far down as the keys, but I'm a bit outside Orlando on the Gulf Coast...and this song brings me back to the beach, no matter where I am...much like Jimmy Buffett, it defines the time and place (like you said, it's perfect for when you want to feel that way)...speaking of Mario levels, have you played Super Mario Sunshine for the Gamecube?...The whole game basically has that tropical island vibe...it's so chill if you ever get to experience it...

This song and a friend introduced me to a synth/metal/grunge (I think) band from the 90's that covered this called Orgy...definitely check out this song, Opticon, Fiction, Dissention, or Eva...Vapor Transmission was the name of their best selling album IIRC...it's very sci-fi/cyberpunk stuff...
